Harv's Air Service Again Training Air Cadets
Fifteen teenage girls from western Canada are in Steinbach this summer training
to become pilots. The Air Cadets are training for their private pilot license at
Harv's Air Service. Captain Frieda Grulke says a typical day for the girls
begins at 6 a.m. with a wake-up call. She notes they do a breakfast run around 7
a.m. and are at the airport by 8 a.m. 18 year-old Samantha Fuhr from Edmonton is
taking the six week course. She says it's a great program. Fuhr is very
impressed with the instructors and pleased they are being treated like adults.
Fuhr is hoping to one day become a commercial pilot.
Canadian Owners and
Pilots Association

Now underway, 15 Air Cadets will take part in the Power Flying Scholarship at Harv's Air. Students will complete their Private Pilot Licence, including 48 hours of flying and 50 hours of ground school over the course of six weeks. Follow these students on their own "web diary" or "web log" found at http://www.harvsair.com/aircadets. Expect daily reports, thoughts, pictures, defeats, victories, web cams as the students progress through their training. In 2002 the web log was seen by over 5,000 users from around the world.
